Five years ago Pilar and I wanted to make use of our discontinued samples. Every year our editors discontinue patterns for various reasons and we are left with samples ranging in size from sample hangers, sample books and cuttings. We started a project called TRANSFORMATIONS which is an up cycle project using our discontinued samples. While the samples have ceased serving their purpose as sales tools to our clients, they could be transformed into finished projects of incredible beauty and function. Beyond giving work to local communities, the profit from the sales goes to local community projects. In the past we have supported WE International (Philippines) which focuses on poverty alleviation thru education, micro financing; and Greenpeace SEA focusing on environmental campaigns globally and within the Philippines. Some of our past projects have been: note card sets and small trays from our wallpaper samples, pouches, baseball caps, and show bags from our textile samples.

This year we have teamed up with the talented Natalya Lagdameo who has TRANSFORMED our samples into clutch bags, shoes, coin purses and TEDDY BEARS! Each item she makes is a one off. She takes joy and great care in combining the fabrics together resulting in seasonal bears (floral for spring time, wool and tartans for winter) and soon we will launch a luxe line made from silks, cashmere and damasks.

Here are some from her recent batch. Remember, each one is unique and made by a community of women with great attention and care.
